Who We Are
Founded in 1991 by Rev. Debra Hickman and Dr. Lee, STAR began as a grassroots movement to support African American women living with HIV/AIDS. Today, our work extends to men, families, and communities facing complex health and social challenges under the leadership of her daughter, Randi Woods MS, MBA, RN. We believe care begins with trust—and trust begins in community.

Building healthier, stronger, and more connected communities since 1991.
For over 30 years, Sisters Together and Reaching, Inc. (STAR) has been a trusted leader in Baltimore and across Maryland—connecting communities to the care, resources, and relationships that change lives. Through our Community Health Worker (CHW) model, we bridge gaps in healthcare, address inequities, and create lasting pathways to health and opportunity.
